AL Wild Card Preview- Athletics @ Royals

These loyal Royals fans have waited 29 years for postseason action, and the time has come for Kansas City. Tonight’s matchup has much intrigue as two low market franchises feature their aces in a matchup between James Shields (3.21 ERA) and Jon Lester (2.46 ERA). IMG_1087.JPG Both of these pitchers have had stellar years, with Lester coming from Boston at the deadline. This game will end up a pitching battle til the bitter end, but I believe Shields has the advantage, due to the fact that Oakland’s offense has plummeted since mid-August. On the other hand, Kansas City has been hot offensively for the past week or so and I feel like they will ride the momentum to a victory tonight. Along with their offense, the KC bullpen has been pretty relentless all year with flamethrowers at the back end featuring Kelvin Herrera and closer Greg Holland. I would keep an eye on this Royals squad, as they have the talent and potential to make a deep run in this year’s postseason. To all fans in Kansas City, it may be time for some major celebrating.
